Galaxy on Fire 3: Manticore is a space combat simulator developed by Hamburg/Germany-based mobile games developer Fishlabs Entertainment GmbH. It's the sequel to Galaxy on Fire 2 and is the fourth entry in the Galaxy on Fire series. Explodemon. In this game, the player takes control of a silent protagonist and battles various space pirates and warlords in the Neox Sector - a far-off, lawless part of the galaxy, in an attempt to track down and kill the culprit behind a planetary explosion.

Why it Sucks

1. The game is made by Fishlabs after it was taken over by Deep Silver - the publisher responsible for Ride to Hell: Retribution and Mighty No. 9.
2. Unlike its prequel, GoF3 is build on a freemium model and introduces more IAPs and a premium currency.
3. Many features from GoF2, such as the ability to dock in space stations; salvage and trade goods; mine asteroids or converse with people in space lounges to chat, accept missions or make purchases are removed.
4. Freeroaming is only limited to specific sections of space, and available activities are limited to flying about and finding secrets. Enemies are also scarce in freeroam and they're so weak they pose very little threat.
5. Freeroaming and voice acting are not even present in the earlier versions!
6. The main cast is bland and humourless.
7. There are fewer ships to collect, and many of them are only unlockable via micro-transactions. There are also several ships that can only be won via loot boxes.
8. Ship customization is also much more limited. In GoF3, all ships are limited to just 2 primary weapons, 1 secondary weapon and 2 pieces of equipment (compared to GoF2, where some ships can be fitted with 4 weapons and 12 pieces of equipment).
9. Keith T. Maxwell, the protagonist of the first and second Galaxy on Fire games, is almost completely absent in 3.
10. It's possible to win some ships in time-limited-events, but said events are very difficult and the featured ship can only be upgraded with premium currency.
11. The contract missions lack variety and makes the game very repetitive.
12. The freelance missions are also lacking in variety and are less rewarding than contract missions.
13. The ships and equipment are costly to upgrade, meaning that one will have no choice but to grind for money. But unlike in GoF2, where there are multiple ways to grind, in GoF3 one will be stuck doing missions for a very long time.
14. Unlike GoF2, which is a single-player game, GoF3 requires the player to be connected to the Internet all the time.
15. While the myriad of enemy equipment and technologies makes combat more challenging. One can't help but wonder why can't the player's ship equip them as well.
16. Act 3 is particularly lame compared to 1 and 2, with only 5 bosses instead of the usual 13. Also, none of the new regions have a description.
17. The final boss of Act 3 is also quite cheap, as she constantly hacks the player's ship and reversing its controls.
18. While some ships like the Betty and the Veteran were ported from the previous game, they were implemented very lazily with pretty much no changes, not even the old weapon hard points and paint jobs were altered.
19. The game's logo bears an uncanny resemblance to that of Mass Effect 3.

Redeeming Qualities

1. The graphics are notably better than that of its prequel.
2. The environments are much more detailed compared to those in GoF2.
3. The enemies have a more varied arsenal of weapons which makes space combat more challenging.
4. The background music is decent.
